The number 1 customer service phone call.

Updated: Jul 22, 2020

My fridge is sitting at 6 degrees Celsius.

When we receive a phone call from a customer and they say that their refrigerator or freezer is not coming down to temperature, the first question we ask is, “have you cleaned your condenser”.

“What’s that”? is a common reply.

“You know the bit in front of the motor that looks like the radiator of a car.”

“I have never cleaned it.” Is a common reply.

If the condensing unit is not cleaned on a regular basis, dust, dirt, hair, or anything that is floating in the air can be sucked into the condensing unit and over time blocks the airflow.

It makes good business sense to have the condensing unit kept free from blockages. If the condenser is dirty or worse still blocked, it reduces the condenses ability to do its job, removing the heat.

If the heat is not being removed the compressor works harder. At its extreme the refrigerator or freezer will not make it normal temperatures. Plus: it cost more to run and reduces the life of the compressor.

The best thing you can do to prolong the life of your fridge is to clean the condenser regularly. Your wallet and your fridge will thank you.
